What types of trademarks cannot be registered in Austria?

The following types of marks cannot be registered:

• Marks that violate moral principles or public policy


• Generic terms that are commonly used words


• Marks featuring flags, symbols, or names of countries, regions, states, or international organizations


• Marks that are not distinctive


• Marks that are primarily just surnames


• Marks that are primarily names of geographic locations
