What types of trademarks cannot be registered in Colombia?

The following types of trademarks cannot be registered:

• Marks that go against moral standards or disrupt public order


• Common or generic terms


• Flags, symbols, or names of countries, states, regions, and international organizations


• Marks lacking distinctiveness


• Marks mainly used as a last name


• Marks mainly used as a name of a geographical location


• Marks that violate copyright laws


• Marks used for unfair business practices
