What types of trademarks cannot be registered in the Russian Federation?

The following types of marks/signs cannot be registered by law:

• Marks that go against moral standards or pose a risk to public order


• Marks that are primarily used as the name of a geographic location


• Marks lacking distinctive characteristics


• Marks that are generic or have a common meaning


• Marks that include a flag, symbol, or name of a country, region, state, or international organization
