The following cannot be registered as trademarks:
- Generic terms
- Names, flags, or symbols of countries, regions, or international organizations
- Marks that primarily serve as surnames
- Marks that go against moral standards or public order
- Marks that mainly represent geographic location names
- Marks that include hallmarks, official signs for control and warranty, seals, or assay marks
- Non-distinctive trademarks
- Marks that contain copyright-protected material
- Marks that are descriptive or misleading
- Marks that only show the natural shape of goods
- Marks that use trade names known in Ukraine and owned by someone else
- Marks that are identical or confusingly similar to an already registered trademark in Ukraine
- Marks that include industrial designs
- Marks prohibited by the Law of Ukraine on condemning Communist and Nazi symbols
