Trademark Offices globally categorize commercial products and services into specific classes. When applying for a trademark to safeguard your brand, you need to select the class or classes that best represent your business activities.
There are 45 standardized classes worldwide (34 for goods and 11 for services) under the Nice International Classification.
These classes encompass all known products and services. You can register the same trademark in multiple classes if needed; for instance, you might register the trademark KING for computers in class 23 and also in class 24 for cosmetics.
Trademark protection is limited to commercial use within your chosen classes. Therefore, two businesses in different classes can use the same or similar trademarks, each enjoying full protection in their respective classes. If you want protection in more than one class, you can select multiple classes for your business.
You can find your trademark class using this Trademark Class Search tool.
