Registration can be canceled for the following reasons:

• Ownership rights


• Copyright infringement


• Famous or well-known trademark


• Registered design rights


• The trademark is descriptive


• The trademark is generic


• The trademark lacks distinctiveness


• The trademark is functional


• Rights to a personal name


• The trademark is misleading, deceptive, or offensive


• The trademark includes a geographical indication


• The trademark violates public policy or moral standards


• Protection of national symbols, flags, and other state emblems


• Registration by an agent or representative instead of the trademark owner
