Registration can be canceled for the following reasons:

• Unfair competition


• Violation of proprietary rights


• Infringement of registered design rights


• The mark is misleading, deceptive, or disparaging


• Lack of distinctiveness in the mark


• Copyright infringement


• The mark serves a functional purpose


• Rights under Article 8 of the Paris Convention


• Rights under Article 6bis of the Paris Convention


• Rights under Article 6septies of the Paris Convention


• Rights under Article 6ter of the Paris Convention


• Registered certification marks


• Infringement of rights in a personal name


• The mark has become generic


• The mark violates public policy or moral principles


• The mark includes a geographical indication


• Registered appellations of origin


• The mark is merely descriptive
