Trademark protection is limited to the country where you register it, as no country has authority over another. If your business operates online or exports goods to other countries, failing to register your trademark in those places could put your brand at risk. Without registration, your trademark isn't protected and others can use it.
However, there are three regional organizations that offer trademark registration valid in multiple countries: the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), and the Organization Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OAPI).
